The Cameroonian-based online promotion company, Hansel Media has launched the “Online Media Participation for Change” Award for young Cameroonian students who, through their online activities are impacting change in their communities. The first edition of the award, however, will be limited to journalism students of the University of Buea, and will be presented at their end of year prize award ceremony on 20 June 2015.

The applications for the 2015 “Online Media Participation for Change” Award (OMPC Award) are open for students in the department of Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Buea. Female applicants are highly encouraged. These online activities include blogging, participation in online forums, or any other online participation, as long as they are aimed towards instigating a change in the community.

The OMPC Award seeks to recognize and nurture young Cameroonians who, through their online activities continually impact change in their respective societies. Through this venture, the winner will have the possibility of getting online material needed for his/her online media activities and will be assisted with online promotion for his/her community-oriented projects on our online platforms.

In addition, winners will be placed with other young Cameroonians in an effort to create a network of Cameroonian youths with a blended passion for online media and its use in impacting change and development in the country.
